Club History
Peninsula Multisport Club was created in 2007 by Sue Taylor and a group of her friends including Les Lommel, Damien Ohagen, and Paul and Andrea Williams. This group of like-minded athletes came together for coached swimming at the YMCA, under Sue and her daughter Tara. PMC was also formed in conjunction with the folks at Peninsula Runners and Peninsula Cycles, hence the name. Over time, bike and run sessions were brought into the mix from computrainer sessions with Kevin Woolliams to excursions to Brian’s Lake, a private lake in South Surrey.
As the Club has grown, we have added in regular coached run and bike workouts, special speakers, organized social events, open water swims and health & wellness sessions. While Sue Taylor decided to move on, PMC has enjoyed the leadership of Tammy Huguet, Greg Christensen, Shawn Baturin and now Brad Bissonnette as Club President along with a hard-working executive committee carrying on Sue’s legacy of a Club promoting health, fitness, fun, and lifelong friendships.

Meet the Coaches
For many athletes, working with a coach has made the difference between just “training” and doing focused workouts to meet a goal. The top reasons from a recent poll conducted by Training Peaks include:
- Structure
- Accountability

Peter Scott
Legacy
Those of us who were able to spend some time training with Peter or joining him for coffee (a very important part of his day!) know how much he loved the sport of triathlon and training for Ironman. Peter never accepted a life with diabetes as a reason to sit on the sidelines. He quietly got up to make the most of every day focusing on his health and wellbeing so he could give the most to his family and to the sport of triathlon.
Peter left us in 2017 but lives on through his family and PMC. An annual ride is held in the Fall in memory of Peter with a stop to one of his favorite places for coffee and some baked treats, Lynden Dutch Bakery. Peter’s wife, Irene, knew it would mean a lot to Peter to continue his contribution to the sport of triathlon and PMC is honored to award an annual scholarship to one of our members who shows an equal commitment to this great sport and could use some assistance in achieving their triathlon and training goals.
