Gord Robertson
Gord started coaching swimming in 1984 and was employed as a head coach in Yellowknife, Williams Lake and Calgary. He has coached youth swimmers to Provincial and National Championships and Canada Games. In 2000 he started coaching triathletes with the Surrey Knights Swim Club running their masters program, and now coaches for PMC.
He has competed in both team and individual sports throughout his teens and adult life. Gord’s love of running, swimming and cycling led him to start taking an interest in triathlons after watching Dave Scott win the 1980 Ironman in Hawaii. Gord has competed in open water races and triathlons from sprint to Ironman distance. He has also twice completed the Ride to Survive (400 km in 1 day).
Although certified as both a swim and a triathlon coach, Gord’s main focus is coaching swimming. He has coached all levels of triathletes from novice to pro. His focus is strong on building a triathlete’s technique and confidence to successfully compete in the swim portion of their race.
